Aline Fourier is a symbolist painter, multimedia artist and writer. She has shown her artwork in galleries in Maine and has been a member of the Center for Maine Contemporary Art, Rockport, Maine and the Maine Art Gallery, Wiscasset, Maine. Ms. Fourier had a one woman show at the Blue Horse Gallery, Newcastle, Maine and a two person show at Athena Gallery in Hallowell, Maine. Ms. Fourier’s works are a translation using movement, color and shape of the exploration of her emotions, dreams and the unconscious. The result is a collection of original paintings that are an evocative combination of abstraction and realism that explore the subtlety of spirit in the natural world. Her paintings are organic and feminine glimpses of life in vivid color or soft pastel that speak of the artist’s love of the earth.
She is the founder of Creative Response, Inc., whose vision centers on the gathering together of creative persons to work on joint artistic projects that promote beauty and support individual and earth awareness and healing. She has created and produced The Pain Reliever, a healing tape with original music that has been marketed nationally for Hospice and for those persons dealing with pain, physical, emotional or spiritual. For 12 years, Ms. Fourier had a counseling practice in psychospiritual counseling and was the founder of Health Source, a network of health practitioners. She ran support groups for persons dealing with catastrophic illness, as well as grief support groups.
Aline Fourier received her Masters Degree in Special Education from the University of Connecticut, Storrs, Connecticut. She completed training in Psychosynthesis Counseling in 1983 and trained in mandala symbolism with Dr. Robert Johnson, author and Jungian therapist. Her background has been quite eclectic, including extensive study in Eastern and Western psychological disciplines and shamanism. Applying this experience, Ms. Fourier has conducted workshops on stress reduction, imagery exploration, meditation and awakening the child who is the spontaneous explorer within us all. She has also taught classes in listening and creating from our inner envisioning.
In the 1990’s, Ms. Fourier chose to concentrate her energies on her creative expressions. She has illustrated her poetry and read at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA. Aline Fourier has also won awards for her photography. She has published prose works in national magazines and established her own self-publishing business through Creative Response, Inc. She is the coauthor, with her son Zachary Burack, of Salt Marsh Reflections, a uniquely-bound book of poetry and photography of the salt marsh where she lived for 15 years. She was co-founder/publisher/designer of the Maine Gallery & Studio Guide, a comprehensive guide of galleries and artist studios for the State of Maine. She is a member of Site Santa Fe and the Center for Contemporary Art.
Aline Fourier recently moved with her husband to a horse farm in Cerrillos, New Mexico, just outside Santa Fe. They have opened the Ortiz Mountain Gallery which has also hosted artist workshops. She presently devotes all her time to her painting, the Gallery, her healing work and caretaking the earth where she lives.
